Out of tune with bad taste Tweet

First bad experience of social networking

Find in email today the following. Find this rather disturbing and unpleasant piece of spam. No at all what I like. However have I have press the report amateur porn movies for spam. I feel confident that Twitter has now dealt with this. This feels more intrusive than the email spam spam of the same nature; more personal somehow! Is it because following and stalking are like activities. Really does highlight the issues of security, and personal safety when using the Internet and the affect on vulnerable individuals . Will have a look at preference and see if I can alter them to stop this happening again. Another reason for not liking Twitter

Yes, unfortunately that does happen a lot on Twitter. You can as you say block and/or report for spam, but I know what you mean about it feeling more personal somehow. The only way to stop it is to choose to make your tweets private - that way only people you approve can follow you and receive them. There's an option on the settings page with a tickbox. It does mean that no-one can see your tweets either, so if you're wanting to use twitter to 'broadcast' then it wouldn't work - I have my personal twitter set to private, because I really just use it to share updates and talk to friends, but the twitter account I maintain for the VHL is obviously public.
